“I just want you to want me the way that I want you and more.” – Jazmine Sullivan, “Let It Burn”

Art, Beats + Lyrics was an annual event that hit St. Louis once a year. It was a traveling art and music tour presented by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey and Gentleman Jack. The tour visited Houston, New Orleans, St. Louis and Birmingham. It was a free event that drew hundreds of people. That year, Mystikal was on the bill to perform. Over 50 visual artist and photographers would be represented. It would be Chyna’s first time attending.

She was hella excited. All of St. Louis would be there. She was even more excited that she’d be going with Asia, Jaylen and Brooke. After the fiasco at the restaurant with Selena, she was in desperate need of a pick-me-up. Homegirl had a lot of nerve running up on her the way she did. Chyna was proud of herself. The old Chyna would’ve beat the shit out of her and then asked questions later.

Chyna was glad that she didn’t go crazy on her. She had fucked the girl’s husband. Chyna knew the feeling all too well of losing your mind behind a no-good-ass nigga. She’d been Selena way too many times to count. She hoped Selena would stop pretending to be 007 and find the strength to leave his sorry-ass alone before she got fucked up for real. Chyna didn’t have time to focus her energy on Selena and her mess. She’d set her straight and thankfully would never have to see her again.

It was time to party. Chyna hated to be alone. Smoking blunt after blunt and going out high off Xanax had been fun but lonely. She wanted her daughter to come home. India gave her purpose. When India was home the weed and pills were put to the side. Chyna seemed to be more focused.

Her book was still on the back burner. She wasn’t excited by the notion of sitting in front of a computer screen writing a sixty to ninety-thousand-word book. She wanted to tell stories in a different way. Chyna didn’t know how she was going to get her foot through the door but she was determined to get her SAG card.

Since she wasn’t in the mood to write, she decided to do reviews on the Starz hit series Power. Chyna had been a huge fan of season 1. Season 2 had just started and she had already begun filming her reviews. To her surprise, she’d gotten a great response from the viewers and over 8,000 views on the first two videos.

She was ecstatic. She’d never gotten that many views on one of her All Tea, All Shade videos. She couldn’t wait to see if the views would continue to rise. Filming her Power reviews had been a welcome distraction from not being able to write and missing India and Carlos. It was hard for her to get sleep at night. Memories of him haunted her. She wondered if she had even ran across his mind in the two weeks they’d been apart.
